Turtle and The Lamb Trail Race
I chose a 19K trail race partly because Turtle and Lambs Head sounded cute and harmless. Three weeks after a marathon, I discovered that this was not a scientifically reliable method of choosing races. 😂

You Can Take the Girl Away From the Mountain…
I went to Thredbo determined to tick Mt Kosciuszko off my bucket list. Severe weather had other ideas, and somewhere between battling the wind, clinging to a railing and playing in the snow, I found one of my happy places instead. 😊

Hunter Falls — Apparently I Have No Self-Control Around Waterfalls
I was deliberately avoiding waterfall hikes before the Sydney Marathon. Then Hunter Falls appeared. Seven hundred kilometres of driving, 34 kilometres of bush-bashing, a near car mishap, possible camping fines and one health scare later…I still think it was worth it.

3 Marathons in 3 Days — Cairns Trail Race
I ran easy, walked the last 10K, and somehow still finished about 25 minutes faster than the previous year. Turns out stronger doesn’t always mean pushing harder. 😊

Downey Falls, Basalt Cave and Mamu
A supposedly sensible pre-race hike turned into waterfalls, waist-deep water, wait-a-while scratches and leech bites — but somehow I still made it home injury-free. 😂

When a Long Run Doesn’t Feel Long
Clohesy River Road, Koah, to Copperlode Dam. It was great training with these beautiful ladies. They certainly made the long run fun and easy. Well… maybe not easy. But good company has a strange way of making you forget how many kilometres you still have left. Thanks, everyone.

One More Off the Bucket List — Mt Pieter Botte
Twenty-two hikers were invited. Five of us turned up. Add heavy rain, slippery boulders, a 12kg pack and two supposedly non-drowsy antihistamines, and Mt Pieter Botte became exactly the kind of adventure I should have known better than to enjoy.

Green Cliff Falls Adventure
Twenty kilometres doesn’t sound like much — until it involves mountain ledges, slippery boulders, cliff jumps, river floating, leeches and eleven hours of rain.
-

High Falls: Worth the Trouble
High Falls was supposedly a hike. There were ropes, giant boulders, water crossings and several moments when “walking” became a very loose description of what we were doing.

Apparently, I’m Not a Natural Skier
Graeme said I’m not a natural skier. Naturally, I decided the appropriate response was to go back out again after lunch.
