Downey Falls, Basalt Cave and Mamu

Despite my effort to steer clear of big hikes — especially waterfalls — before an upcoming race to avoid injuries, I just couldn’t say no to this gem.

Fortunately, apart from what other hikers call a “flora and fauna vicious attack” — scratches from wait-a-while and leech bites — I got home injury-free. 😂

There was plenty of water involved, including sections where walking apparently ceased to be a dry-land activity.

Most of these photos are courtesy of the other hikers because, despite owning a supposedly “waterproof” phone, I wasn’t comfortable pulling it out when there was water everywhere. 😊
