Distracted by the Scenery
I set out to complete my last long run before the Melbourne Marathon. Unfortunately, the 40-kilometre trail was far too beautiful to concentrate on running.

It’s Nice to Have Paparazzi Friends
One of the advantages of running with friends is occasionally ending up with photos you didn’t have to take yourself. Very useful evidence for the days when you start wondering whether you imagined the whole thing. 😂

My First Marathon: Not Quite the Way I Planned It
My first marathon started with a late bus, a run-in with a car, an unhappy knee and a wardrobe malfunction involving gaiters. Somehow, I still made it to the finish line — 27 minutes before cutoff. 😂

I Said We Were Going for a Picnic…
They thought we were getting up early for a picnic at Copperlode Dam. We were. I simply forgot to emphasise the 6km walk attached to it. 😊

Running Is Cheap, They Said
“Take up running,” they said. “It’s cheaper than other sports,” they said. Then came the shoes, hydration pack, visor, headlamp and all the other little “essentials.” Apparently, running is only cheap if you don’t actually buy anything. 😂

150 Kilometres, Rain or Shine
I signed up to run 150 kilometres for MS, combined it with marathon training, ran through the rain and dragged my husband out of bed to provide photographic evidence. Because apparently charity kilometres still require proof. 😉

I Made It to the Top… Just Not Before Cut-Off
I trained for Point to Pinnacle for three months. Then, two weeks before the race, diverticulitis and a hospital stay changed everything. I went anyway, planning to walk what I couldn’t run—and somehow still made it to the summit, just not before the official cut-off. 😊

My Very Sensible Race-Entry Strategy
I have a very sensible race-entry strategy: hang out with running legends, accept their spare race spots, and convince myself it’s all good for my mental health. 😂

How I Snuck Into Perth Marathon
With only six weeks of training, I somehow found myself at the Perth Marathon — starting dead last, stopping at every toilet, passing dozens of runners, and somehow having one of my best marathon days yet. 😂
