I had been seriously thinking about re-homing Singh, our Indian ringneck, because he had started causing injuries to some of the smaller birds.
He can be a bit of a bully.
So I was surprised when I noticed something.
He can sit perfectly peacefully beside Rosa.
Rosa Burke, that is.
At first I thought perhaps they had become best buddies.
Then I realised what was really happening.
Rosa simply does not tolerate nonsense.
Whenever Singh tries to get rough with her, she makes her displeasure very clear.
Very clear.
And apparently Singh understands.
So while some of the smaller birds run away from him, Rosa seems to have established boundaries.
She basically told him:
“You behave yourself around me.”
And somehow…
he does.
So perhaps they are best buddies.
Or perhaps Singh has simply met the one bird in the aviary who refuses to be intimidated by him.
Either way, I’m impressed with Rosa.
