Never Say Never!!!
The night before, Graeme and I had decided we didn’t particularly like the onsen, yukata or soba. By 5 am the next morning, two of the three had already won us over.

Back to Tokyo
The bullet train took us from Nagano to Tokyo in 1 hour and 49 minutes. Finding our accommodation took considerably longer. But this time we didn’t miss our station, so I’m calling that progress.

Tokyo Disneyland
We missed Disneyland on our first day in Tokyo because we got lost. On Day 8, we organised it ourselves, navigated the trains without asking anyone — and then I nearly lost Graeme inside Disneyland instead.

Panoramic Tour of Tokyo
From Meiji Shrine and Senso-ji to Tokyo Bay, the Imperial Palace and an illuminated Rainbow Bridge, this one-day tour showed us just how much Tokyo can fit into a single day. And, once again, Japan did not disappoint.

Mt Fuji Viewing — and Goodbye Japan
We came to Japan hoping to see snow and learn to ski. After cancelled plans, lost glasses, a forgotten iPad and countless wrong trains, somehow everything worked out — and somewhere along the way, we fell in love with Japan.

Thredbo’s First Snowfall of the Year
We woke to find Thredbo transformed overnight — brown slopes turned white, snow falling outside our balcony, and our “easy day” suddenly involving another trip up the mountain.

Drama in the Holy Land
We went to the Holy Land to walk through biblical history. Then coronavirus arrived in Bethlehem, the borders began closing, and suddenly we found ourselves watching history happen around us.

You Can Take the Girl Away From the Mountain…
I went to Thredbo determined to tick Mt Kosciuszko off my bucket list. Severe weather had other ideas, and somewhere between battling the wind, clinging to a railing and playing in the snow, I found one of my happy places instead. 😊
