Brutal Track, But Perfect

I’m proud to have taken part in one of Australia’s oldest city marathons.

The weather was beautiful for running, the scenery was stunning, and the course was absolutely brutal. Hills, hills and more hills. Just when you thought you were finished climbing, apparently Canberra had another one waiting. 😂

But despite the tough course, this race felt special.

I finished injury-free, which is always a win, and I had a special friend who seemed to magically appear around every corner taking photos of us. Every time I thought, surely she can’t be here too… there she was. 😂

And that made the whole experience even more memorable.

There’s something about a difficult course that makes the finish line feel even sweeter. By the time I reached it, I was tired, happy, relieved and very ready to stop running.

Would I recommend Canberra Marathon?

Absolutely.

Beautiful city, beautiful course, beautiful weather…

Just don’t expect it to be flat. 😂
