Today was supposed to be the day.
Cairns was having one of its lowest tides, which apparently makes it possible to walk from Buchan Point to Double Island.
Apparently.
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the tide never dropped below about 0.2 metres, and with the shifting sand underneath us, the water still came up to my waist.
Mind you, I’m short, so that’s saying something.
Needless to say, we didn’t make it to Double Island

.
But it was still a great day out.
Luna, however, looked increasingly convinced that I was trying to drown her.
Especially when we reached the deeper sections.
On the bright side, it finally forced her to swim.
Whether she considers that a positive experience is another matter entirely.
I may have to let her sleep in the living room tonight…
and lock the bedroom door.
Just in case she decides to get even.
