I used to think that waterfalls you could reach on an easy, well-maintained track probably wouldn’t be that impressive.
Well, I was wrong. 
Steavenson Falls was beautiful — and probably the easiest waterfall walk I’d done at that point.
The main lookout was only about 700 metres away, and Graeme, then 82, and my sister-in-law, 84, managed the walk without even breaking a sweat.
Meanwhile, I’m usually used to waterfalls that require several hours of hiking, scrambling over boulders, crossing rivers and occasionally donating blood to leeches. 
So this felt almost suspiciously easy.
I also walked up to the higher lookout, which only took me about 20 minutes return.
And yet there it was: a huge waterfall cascading through the forest.
Sometimes, apparently, nature does let you see something spectacular without making you work ridiculously hard for it.
For anyone visiting Marysville who wants a beautiful waterfall without a major hike, this one is definitely worth a stop.
