For my pre-birthday challenge, I decided to run my first half marathon.
21.1 kilometres.
At 50.
Because apparently this is how I celebrate birthdays now.
This was the longest distance I had ever run, so I wasn’t particularly concerned about speed. The goal was simply to finish.
I ran the Race in Dress Half Marathon and took it slowly.
Very slowly.
But I finished.

And for someone attempting 21.1 km for the first time, I think I did alright.
There’s something satisfying about doing something you’ve never done before — especially when you’re at an age when people sometimes start talking about slowing down.
I’m not particularly interested in slowing down yet.
Maybe I’ll just keep finding new things to try instead.
