What do you do when 112.5 mm of rain falls in 24 hours and most of the national parks around you are closed because of cyclone damage and hazards?
Apparently, you run in the rain.
We made the best of it and headed towards Barron Gorge, splashing through puddles along the way. It was actually fun — wet shoes, rain, puddles and all.
What surprised us most was the number of waterfalls. Water seemed to be pouring out of every corner of the rainforest.

I’ve spent a fair bit of my life chasing waterfalls, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many with only about three hours of effort.
Sometimes bad weather ruins the plan.
Sometimes it creates a completely different one.
